FIVE HIGH-END HIGHLIGHTERS WORTH THE SPLURGE

Five High-End Highlighters Worth The Splurge

Highlighters are one of my favourite products to apply because they can truly transform your look. With a little strategic placement, highlighters can accentuate your features and give you that lit-from-within glow that we all love. I know I just talked about my top six lipsticks for Fall, but I still love to rock a bit of highlight no matter the season. Here are five highlighters that are definitely worth the splurge!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft And Gentle

This highlighter will be no surprise to anyone who is an avid beauty lover. MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinishes are fantastic, and this shade is perfect for those cool-toned girls out there. It’s a soft, champagne pink with some flecks of gold in there as well. It is a pretty full-on highlight but can be toned down quite a bit if using a gentle hand. This has been my go-to for years and is due for a repurchase very soon.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

These highlighters are pretty amazing as they are designed to be used all over the face. They are supposed to flatter the skin as if you’re being bathed in candlelight – and flatter they do! I have the Ambient Lighting Palette which comes with three shades (Dim Light, Incandescent Light, and Radiant Light) so you can definitely see the theme here of creating the perfect light for your skin. My favourite has to be Incandescent Light due to the beautiful champagne tone and it gives the most subtle, natural glow out of the bunch.

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross

If you are a fan of the “go gold or go home” look then you will love this. Albatross is a sheer highlight with a brilliant golden fine shimmer throughout. There are no chunky glitters in this so it gives a nice smooth look to the skin. I love that it isn’t so intense that you can barely skin your skin underneath but that doesn’t mean that it’s subdued. You will be able to see this highlighter pop on those cheekbones from a mile away!

Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighter in Rose Gold*

I talked a bit about this product, along with several other Burberry highlighters, on my blog previously but this is my favourite out of the bunch. Rose Gold tones can be very hard for me to pull off on the cheeks, so I was very happy that this was beautifully natural on the skin. The soft focus effect actually blurs the skin and melts in like you’ve got that lit from within glow. It’s a pretty amazing highlight and one for those who prefer to have a more toned down look.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop

If any of the highlighters above are too tame for you, then you’ll be happy to know that I saved the most intense for last. The highly coveted Champagne Pop highlighter is loved by so many because it gives such an intense rose gold sheen to the skin (hello, outer space!). It is buttery smooth, easy to apply and it gets straight to business. There will be no denying that you’re rocking a highlight when wearing this! Now while it can be a bit harsh on my pale skin, a very light hand does the trick. It also can be a killer eyeshadow if you’re wanting to get a little matchy-matchy.

Great choices! I really want to try a Becca highlight as everybody seems to rave about them and Champagne pop looks like a really beautiful colour; using it as an eyeshadow is a great idea too xx

I love products that can be doubled up and used on other parts of the face! Definitely give Champagne Pop a try if you can!

I love that it’s more on the subtle side for the days when I want my makeup to be a bit more toned down. The embossing on the powder was so pretty I didn’t want to use it!

Those all look amazing! I consider myself a highlighter lover but I have not tried any of those! Now I know what to add to my list. I’m currently obsessing over Ofra highlighters xx

Thank you Paola – I really enjoy your blog photos as well! Champagne Pop is honestly just such a well rounded shade that can work for so many people, and so is Soft and Gentle! x

Such gorgeous highlighters! I love MAC Soft & Gentle and the Hourglass palette. While I don’t have Champagne Pop (yet), Becca’s Opal is possible my very favourite highlighter of all time! The Burberry highlighter looks absolutely stunning, but I didn’t get on with NARS Albatros, I found it too gold toned for me. I’ve heard a few people talking about it recently, so I really should pull it out and try it again. Maybe with a different brush. Xx
